Cape Otway Hike-in Campground

Cape Otway Hike-in Campground is a small, unpowered overnight camp on the Great Ocean Walk, one of seven hike-in stops on the roughly 104 km route. It sits in dense coastal bush between Blanket Bay and Aire River, rather than above the sea. Book it as a sheltered break between stages; each site is limited to three guests.

There are composting toilets and a simple shared three-sided shelter. Rainwater is untreated, and tanks can run low or empty in summer or dry years, so carry enough drinking water and treat any tank water you use. There’s no power or food service, and no rubbish bins; bring your meals and carry your rubbish out.

This is a bush camp, not an ocean-view campground. Walkers describe it as sheltered, though a couple say there’s little or no sea view and find it less scenic than other Great Ocean Walk stops. The adjoining stages are each about 10 km: from Blanket Bay, the walk passes Parker Inlet and Cape Otway Lightstation; toward Aire River, it reaches coastal cliffs and a river lookout.
