HI Gros Morne – Out East Adventures is a small hostel and outdoor-adventure base in Rocky Harbour, set up for hikers, backpackers and small groups. It’s a practical place to stay while exploring Gros Morne, especially if you’re carrying a pack or lining up a guided outing.
There are six private rooms and 24 beds in shared rooms. Dorm bunks have their own light, outlet and curtain, giving you a little privacy without losing the hostel feel. The open communal area has a kitchen, dining space and lounge. Each room has an ensuite bathroom; the property also lists laundry, secure luggage storage, Wi-Fi and pet-friendly accommodation.
The trail shop sells outdoor gear and rents backpacking equipment, including packs, sleeping bags, tents, stoves, pots, satellite messengers and GPS units. The operator also offers guided outings and local hiking advice, making this more useful as a base than a quick sightseeing stop. Free parking is available at 12 West Link Road. The communal kitchen is handy for sorting meals between days out.
