Trail guide
Berry Head Pond Trail is an easy 2 km loop around a pond in Gros Morne’s coastal lowlands, through wetland, bog and forest. Allow 30 to 60 minutes for the circuit; Parks Canada lists 38 m of elevation gain. It is a gentle stop for the lowland landscape rather than a summit hike.
The first 350 m is wheelchair-accessible boardwalk. Beyond it, the route narrows to a footpath that circles the pond; much of the loop passes through sheltered forest, with bog and wetland alongside. Views across the pond take in the far tree line and mountains. Parks Canada describes this habitat as a good place to look for songbirds and waterfowl, though sightings are never assured. Where the shore opens, include a little foreground reed growth with the pond and far bank; a frame of water alone loses the landscape’s scale.
Find the access on Route 430, about 6 km north of Rocky Harbour. The boardwalk makes a useful short out-and-back if the narrower loop is beyond your mobility needs; only that opening section is identified as wheelchair-accessible. Pets must be kept on leash, and follow any posted area restrictions. Parking capacity, washroom and water details at this access were not verified.
