About Sunwapta Lake

Sunwapta Lake is a small, glacially fed lake tucked just west of the Icefields Parkway, south of the Athabasca Glacier and Glacier View Lodge. It’s the source of the Sunwapta River—the same water that thunders over the well-known Sunwapta Falls downstream. The lake itself is quiet and largely ignored by travelers racing between the Columbia Icefield stops and the falls.
