Lake Edith Loop

Lake Edith Shoreline is an easy, low-elevation loop beside one of Jasper’s warm, shallow lakes. Expect quiet forest, open-water and mountain views, and several places where the public shoreline comes close to the route. The complete visitor loop is about 3.1 miles (4.9 km) and usually takes about 1.5 hours.

Start on Trail 4e, follow Trail 7, then turn onto Trail 4g and continue around the lake before returning by the mapped connector to the Trail 4e access. The line is a true closed loop, but signage is limited in places; stay on the established public path and use the lake and signed trail junctions as landmarks. The route is mostly flat and easy underfoot, with a short mapped roadway connector near the start/finish.

Use the Lake Edith day-use access off Maligne Lake Road and begin at the public Trail 4e shoreline access. The loop passes mixed forest and open lakeshore, with picnic and beach access along the day-use area. Private cabins line portions of the shore, so keep to public paths and do not cross cottage property. Trail 7, 4g and the Lake Edith Shoreline are named components of Jasper’s multi-use trail network; this record represents only the Lake Edith loop.

Carry bear spray and make noise because wildlife moves through the Jasper valley. Keep dogs leashed where permitted, respect posted closures and seasonal notices, and avoid blocking residential or cabin access when parking. Water activities are separate from the hike: use only designated public shoreline access and follow current park rules.
