A small, scenic kettle lake tucked beside Jasper Park Lodge and just north of Lac Beauvert, Mildred Lake serves up quiet views of forest and surrounding peaks. It’s low-key in summer, but in winter it turns into one of the area’s most beloved outdoor skating spots.

Winter highlight: the skate loop

When the ice is safe, the lake is groomed into a broad skating oval with dedicated hockey rinks. Visitors mention a near‑kilometre loop, benches along the path, a small warming hut to lace up, and even torches lit around the track at night. It’s a fun, family‑friendly scene with big mountain backdrops. Conditions vary with weather, so expect the usual lake‑ice quirks near entry points.

Summer vibes

In warmer months, think mellow: casual strolls, jogging, and easy photo ops with blue‑green water and forest reflections. It’s generally quieter than nearby Lac Beauvert, though insects can be noticeable on warm days.

Wildlife

The area around the lake can host the usual Jasper regulars—elk and deer are most common, with the possibility of black bears in the broader area. Stay alert, give wildlife space, and follow standard park safety practices.

What’s here (and what’s not)

There’s no standalone day‑use infrastructure right at the shoreline—no signed trailhead, picnic area, or campground. You’ll use Jasper Park Lodge for parking, restrooms, food, and rentals in season. This isn’t a major boating or swimming lake; it shines in winter and as a quiet scenic stop the rest of the year.

Best time to visit

Winter: Weekdays or early/late in the day for smoother ice and fewer people. Late afternoon light is gorgeous; evening can be atmospheric when the torches are lit.
Summer: Early morning for calm water, softer light, and fewer bugs. Weekends see more foot traffic from lodge guests.
