Guide
Sheep Creek is a developed campground with 111 sites on the floor of Kings Canyon, beside the confluence of the South Fork Kings River and Sheep Creek. At 4,600 feet and a quarter-mile from Cedar Grove Village, it’s a useful place to camp near the river and the village’s supplies. Reserve ahead: every site is reservation-only, with bookings opening about a month out.
Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, and metal food-storage locker. Some sites sit under tall conifers; others are more exposed. Black bears are active here, so keep all food and scented items in the locker. Dogs can stay on a leash in camp, but aren't allowed on park trails.
Water and flush toilets are seasonal, as are trash and recycling collection; there are no showers in the campground. The seasonal camp store sells ice and firewood. Cedar Grove Village is a quarter-mile away for groceries and grab-and-go food at the market, burgers and sandwiches at the grill, and showers and laundry.
