Sentinel Campground is an 82-site developed campground in the Cedar Grove section of Kings Canyon, among evergreen trees beside the South Fork of the Kings River. It works well as an overnight base for day hikes in the area, including Mist Falls, Zumwalt Meadow, and Kanawyer Loop.
Every campsite has a picnic table, fire ring, and metal bear-resistant food locker. The park says bears are active here, so store all food and scented items in that locker. In season, five comfort stations have flush toilets, drinking water, and dishwashing sinks. In season, the campground store also sells ice and firewood.
Cedar Grove Village is just across the road, with showers, laundry, a convenience store, and a snack bar. Showers and laundry are village services, rather than campground facilities.
