Redstreak Campground

Redstreak is a large, developed campground on the hillside above Radium Hot Springs, with 242 sites across tent and RV camping plus 10 oTENTiks. It works well as a settled base for park drives, walks and a visit to the hot springs. Summer demand is high, so reserve ahead. Camping requires a valid permit and park entry pass; campfires depend on current restrictions.

Expect drinking water, flush toilets, showers, firepits with firewood and a sani-dump. The mix includes 50 full-hookup sites and 38 electrical sites, alongside unserviced options. Pets are not allowed inside oTENTiks. Space and quiet vary by loop: some sites feel close together, while others are more open, so check the individual site layout if privacy matters.

The 1 km Letwilc7úl̓ecw interpretive loop is accessible from the campground. Nearby, the Redstreak Loop gives a panoramic view over the open restoration landscape. Bighorn sheep are part of the local wildlife story, though sightings are never guaranteed.

The open grasslands south of camp are being restored as part of the Rocky Mountain Trench’s fire-dependent ecosystem. After 114 hectares were mechanically thinned in winter 2002–03, the first prescribed burn followed in spring 2005. The work supports winter range and migration habitat for Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, as well as grassland species such as the American badger.
