Hiking Sinclair Canyon

What this hike isSinclair Canyon is a moderate, one-way 2.8 km (1.

Sinclair Canyon is a moderate, one-way 2.8 km (1.7 mi) walk along the canyon rim and down into the gorge. It links Lower Juniper Trail Parking, west of the canyon, with an access above the Radium Hot Springs Pools main parking lot. The payoff is getting a close look at the narrow canyon on foot, plus a short detour to the Red Chairs overlooking the pools.

The short spur to the Red Chairs is the route’s clearest viewpoint, looking down over Radium Hot Springs Pools. Keep it in your plan before continuing through the canyon. This is a compact canyon walk, not a long backcountry outing.

Plan the endpointsThe route is point-to-point, not a loop. Allow about two hours for the return outing.

The route is point-to-point, not a loop. Allow about two hours for the return outing. If you leave your car at the west start, arrange a pickup at the pools end or walk the same trail back for about 5.6 km (3.5 mi) total. The one-way route gains about 350 m and loses 260 m, so it takes more effort than the short distance suggests. Stay on designated trails and viewpoints; dogs are allowed on leash.
