The site has three raised, 10-by-12-foot platforms with clear roofs and mosquito-net walls; each sleeps up to three. Two huts share a fire area, while the third has its own. Each comes with chairs, a table, potable water and bear-proof food storage. A pit-toilet outhouse and hot shower are available, but there is no electricity.
Plan for the walk inPort Alsworth has no road access.
Port Alsworth has no road access. The campground is roughly a quarter-mile walk over uneven ground and across a footbridge, and the operator says it is not ADA accessible. Plan to carry your gear; the town has no car or ATV rentals or vehicle taxis. There are no stores in Port Alsworth, so bring food. A seasonal food truck and coffee shop are separate options in town. Nearby activities include a private beach, grayling fishing at the Tanalian River mouth, local trails and kayak rentals.
A family propertyThe operator traces the land to a 2012 family purchase.
The operator traces the land to a 2012 family purchase. Its owner's great-grandmother lived there, and Katherine Trefon was born there; the family knew the area as Tanalian Point. The operator explains Tulch'ina as the Dena'ina clan of “those of the water,” and the company grew from that family connection.
