Longview Scenic Overlook is a roadside viewpoint and picnic area on Lakeshore Road. Its covered picnic shelter looks across Lake Mead to the desert hills beyond. You get a broad basin view, but the water sits at a distance; this is a pleasant stop to stretch and take it in, not a close-up shoreline view.
With three tables, three grills and restrooms, it can be a real meal stop, not just a quick view. There’s no drinking water, so bring what you need. I’d stop here if you’re already on Lakeshore Road and want an easy picnic; if the lake itself is your main goal, choose a closer-to-water stop.
It’s listed for year-round use and sits in the park’s fee area, so admission applies. No reservation is required. Dogs are allowed on a leash up to six feet, and parking includes auto and bus/RV spaces.
