Sunset is the headliner—plan to arrive 30–60 minutes early to claim your spot and watch the color build. Weekdays are noticeably calmer than weekends. If you like solitude, come at first light for soft tones and fewer people.

Bring a wide-angle lens to capture the sweep; a tripod helps at dusk and dawn. Clouds add drama, so don’t skip a moody day. After dark, try a short astro session if the sky’s clear—just pack a headlamp and mind your footing.

Wildlife & Safety

Desert wildlife like coyotes may be active near roads—observe from a distance and never feed animals. It can be breezy after sunset; layer up and keep valuables out of sight if you linger.
