Hiking Luss Glebe Loop

A short loop in the GlebeLuss Glebe Loop is an easy 0.

Luss Glebe Loop is an easy 0.73-mile circuit from the meeting point of the village paths behind Luss Parish Church. It circles the Glebe meadows, an oakwood and a short stretch of Loch Lomond shore, then retraces its short access leg. Allow about 20 to 30 minutes. This is a gentle village add-on, not a hike to plan the day around.

The route stays low on compacted paths; its reward is the switch from open meadow to oak shade and then the water’s edge, not a climb or big lookout. Luss’s oakwoods were once coppiced on a 24-year cycle, and their bark supplied tannin for leather working. The churchyard is beside the approach; look for the 11th-century Viking hogback grave among the old stones.

Cafés and hotels in Luss make a separate stop for a drink or meal before or after; they are not on the loop. Dogs are allowed under Scotland’s access rules when kept under proper control.
