Ardentinny Beach and Glenfinart“You're coming up on Ardentinny Beach, a broad stretch of sand and shingle on Loch Long backed by forest. It's worth the five-mile single-track approach if you want time by the shore, rather than a quick roadside pause.”

Trail guide
Riverside Trail is an easy 0.8-mile loop from Ardentinny Forest car park, following Glenfinart Burn to the Arched Bridge and returning by the other bank. The short link from the car park is shared on both legs, while the riverside paths make the circuit. Allow about 30 minutes. It is a simple way to see the burnside woodland and an old stone crossing without taking on one of the park’s longer walks.
The path is firm tarmac and gravel, though loose stones make it uneven in places. Most of it is level; one short, steeper ramp or nearby steps is the main effort. You pass the old walled garden of Glenfinart House, where snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells flower in spring. The stone arch is the walk’s landmark: it appears on an 1869 map as Stronvochlan Bridge and reopened after restoration in 2007. If the burn is calm, frame the arch with its reflection.
All three waymarked walks start at Ardentinny Forest car park, about a mile north of the village just beyond Glenfinart Caravan Park. Toilets and a picnic area are beside the lot; the toilets are open year-round. Watch for vehicles on the access road. Dogs are allowed under Scotland’s outdoor access rules when kept under proper control. For a longer outing, the two-mile Laird’s Trail adds a climb to views over Loch Long.
