Trail guide
This 2.5 km (1.55 mi) loop circles the north side of Cormonachan Community Woodlands from North Car Park and takes about an hour. It is the longer blue circuit, distinct from the 1 km green Squirrel Trail and the brown route to Upper Cormonachan and the falls. Expect a short woodland outing with one steep climb rather than a summit walk.
The blue path shares its lower approach with the Squirrel Trail to the Red Squirrel Hide, then continues past the ancient pollarded oak, over 5.4 m in girth, and the nursery plantation. At Clach Bhadach, a steep section gains 56 m to the upper woodland. Continue south through the Sika spruce area, past the labyrinth, flat stones used for the “Have a Go” feature, and six Little People sculptures. The loop rejoins the Squirrel Trail near a bench before reaching the Contemplation Shelter, with views over Loch Goil, and returning to the car park.
Natural ground paths include several steep inclines, with benches along the route. Follow the blue markers where green and brown paths meet in the same woodland; the brown path is a separate route to Upper Cormonachan and the falls. A maintenance donation is requested. Overnight parking, camping and fires are not permitted.
