Trail guide
The green Squirrel Trail is a 1 km loop from Cormonachan Woodlands’ north car park. It takes about 30 minutes and links the Red Squirrel Hide with the Contemplation Shelter, with woodland sculptures along the way. This is the short green walk; the larger blue circuit and Cormonachan Falls route are separate hikes.
The hide is the first stop, with a bench and two picnic tables nearby. Move quietly and you may see a red squirrel. From the hide, the path climbs 17 m to a bench at the top, passes the Totem Pole and another picnic table, then reaches the Contemplation Shelter. Its windows frame Loch Goil and the wooded hills beyond. The walk is graded easy to moderate, but the two steep pitches make it feel hillier than its short distance suggests.
Begin at the north car park; the entrance gates lead onto the green loop. Dogs are welcome. The final pitch drops 25 m from the shelter back to the car park. The car park’s capacity and fee aren’t specified, and the operator doesn’t list toilets or drinking water for this route.
