Colonial Creek North is a drive-in campground in old-growth forest on the north side of SR 20 at Diablo Lake. It suits campers who want a wooded base with lake access and nearby trail starts. Think of it as a place to stay and get out on the water or trail, not a destination hike by itself; it has about 40 sites.

Plan for a simple camping staySites have a picnic table, tent pad and bear box, and food-storage lockers are available…

Sites have a picnic table, tent pad and bear box, and food-storage lockers are available year-round. Potable water and toilets are seasonal; there are no showers or cell reception. The campground usually operates from late May into mid-September. Reservations are required during peak season; after they end in early September, sites are first-come until seasonal closure. SR 20 traffic is audible to some campers, and large RVs aren't a good fit here.
