More about Cactus Forest Sunset Pullout

A quick roadside stopCactus Forest Sunset Pullout is a small paved turnout on the 8-mile Cactus Forest Loop Drive in…

Cactus Forest Sunset Pullout is a small paved turnout on the 8-mile Cactus Forest Loop Drive in Saguaro’s Rincon Mountain District. It sits just past Rincon Mountain Overlook and before Javelina Rocks. This is a brief place to pause, look around, take pictures, or read the map, not a trail destination.

Make the stop workThe turnout is very small: it may fit two cars only if they squeeze in.

The turnout is very small: it may fit two cars only if they squeeze in. If there is no room, keep going; do not park on the road. The loop is narrow, with tight turns and steep hills. Vehicles wider than 102 inches and combinations 40 feet or longer are prohibited, and the loop has no parking for RVs or larger vehicles.

The drive is gated and closes in the evening, so check current hours before planning a sunset stop.

Sunset and the viewThis pull-off is often used for sunset and photos.

This pull-off is often used for sunset and photos. Look west across Tucson Valley; the Rincon Mountains are east of the road. The loop runs south before curving into the desert, so including that bend gives a photo some foreground instead of only the distant skyline. There is no separate walk to another viewpoint.
