Guide
Buckeye Flat is a 27-site, tent-only campground at about 2,800 feet in Sequoia’s foothills, above the Middle Fork Kaweah River. Large live oaks shade many sites, and campers can hear the river from most of them. Choose it for the foothill river setting; if your trip needs an RV site, this is the wrong camp.
Each site has a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and bear-resistant food locker. Black bears are active here, so food, drinks, and scented items need to stay in the locker when they aren’t within arm’s reach. All sites require reservations; RVs and trailers aren’t allowed.
The campground is six miles inside Ash Mountain Entrance on Generals Highway, opposite Hospital Rock. Paradise Creek Trail starts at camp, and Middle Fork Trail is nearby. One vehicle is allowed per site; overflow parking is at Hospital Rock.
