Hotel Lago Grey

Hotel Lago Grey is a remote hotel on the shore of Grey Lake in Torres del Paine's Lago Grey sector. It combines lodging and a restaurant, with some rooms looking across the water toward Grey Glacier and the Paine Massif. I’d choose it for the setting and as a base for the Grey III excursion; it is not an ordinary roadside stop.

Grey III check-in is at the hotel, but the boat does not leave from the building. The boarding area is a 30–45-minute walk along Grey Beach. The check-in window opens an hour before departure, and the round trip on the water takes about 2 hours 45 minutes. The beach walk is unsuitable for visitors with reduced mobility, so decide whether that approach works before booking. A boat ticket does not include the park entrance fee.

The on-site restaurant is useful in this remote sector, but access for non-guests is unclear; check before planning a meal stop. Food and service can be uneven, so I wouldn’t choose the hotel just for the dining room. Rooms have central heating and Wi-Fi. Lake and glacier views are a major draw, but the outlook varies by room and weather.

Grey III crosses the lake among floating icebergs toward Grey Glacier. The route can bring Paine Grande, the Paine Massif, forested shores and dark igneous rock into view. If you’re lucky, you may see ice break from the glacier, but treat that as a bonus rather than a promise.

The hotel is reachable by vehicle. The Lago Grey sector has public restrooms and potable water, separate from hotel guest facilities. There are no fuel stations in or around the park, so fill up before entering.
