Mirador Ferrier

Mirador Ferrier is a mountain lookout above the Grey and Pingo sectors, reached by a steep uphill trail. At the top, the forest opens onto a broad, relatively flat lookout with a 360-degree panorama across the western side of the park. This is a hike, not a quick roadside stop. The listed route is 5.6 km return and takes about three hours; allow time for the climb and a proper look around.

Expect sustained uphill walking, exposed roots and muddy patches. The route is described near Lazo in the Grey/Pingo sector; one account starts at the Río Pingo car park by Guardería Grey. Current Ferrier-specific access, the exact start and sign-in requirements weren't confirmed, so check with CONAF before setting out. The exposed top can also be very windy, which may cut your time at the viewpoint short.

From the lookout, look across Lago Grey to Grey Glacier, then along the Paine Grande massif and Los Cuernos. The Pingo basin lies farther west, with Pingo Lake and Pingo Glacier among the distant features. The viewpoint opens above the forest, so the panorama feels much wider than the lake-and-glacier view alone.

Start with a wide frame to fit Lago Grey, Grey Glacier and the surrounding peaks. Then zoom in on the icebergs and the distant Pingo features; they reward a closer look when the broad view is too much for one photo.
