Parking

Begin at Guardería Pingo / Portería Lago Grey in the Grey sector; the mapped route starts on the nearby station-side path. Parking arrangements and space at the access were not verified, so confirm entry logistics with CONAF.

Safety

Check access with CONAF before traveling: the station-side path is marked permit-only, while some accounts report special authorization for the broader Pingo Trail. The current process and whether it applies to Chorrillo are unclear. The accredited-guide restriction shown farther toward Mirador Zapata does not establish a guide requirement at this lookout.

“You're coming up on the Pingo starting area for Playa Grey, where a walk through forest leads to an open shore. Choose this for the lake and drifting ice, with Grey Glacier far away across the water.”

The distance is a map-based estimate for the mapped corridor from the ranger-station access to the Chorrillo lookout, then back the same way. Published Pingo Valley outings bundle different starts or continue farther, so their mileage does not describe this exact turnaround. The station-side path is marked permit-only, and some accounts report that special CONAF authorization is required for the broader Pingo Trail. Confirm the current process and whether that restriction applies to Chorrillo before setting out. A separate guide-only notation applies farther along the valley at Mirador Zapata; it does not establish a guide requirement for this lookout.

Along the riverThe route follows a ground path through native forest in the Pingo River valley.

The route follows a ground path through native forest in the Pingo River valley. The lookout is near the small Chorrillo waterfall, tucked among trees and boulders; turn around there rather than continuing toward the more distant Cascada Pingo or Mirador Zapata. Return on the same corridor.

The valleyPingo Valley walks are noted for birdwatching and views toward the Paine massif.

Pingo Valley walks are noted for birdwatching and views toward the Paine massif. Huemul are reported in the wider valley, but a sighting is never assured. For the waterfall, a wide composition that includes both cascades and the moss-covered central boulder shows the setting better than a tight crop.

At the trailheadThe access is Guardería Pingo / Portería Lago Grey.
