More about Barry Creek Campsite

A camp on the northern routeBarry Creek is one of five overnight campsites in Wilsons Promontory's northern wilderness.

Barry Creek is one of five overnight campsites in Wilsons Promontory's northern wilderness. It's a hike-in stop on the Northern Circuit, not a roadside campground. From Five Mile Road car park, it's about 6.7 km on foot; the circuit itinerary estimates roughly two hours to reach it. It makes a useful overnight split on a demanding multi-day walk.

A simple night outThe campsite has no facilities.

The campsite has no facilities. There is no toilet, tap or food service here, so plan for a self-sufficient backcountry night. Don't count on creek water as your only supply; check current park conditions before relying on it.

Know the commitmentYou need a hiking permit, issued after you complete the Hiker Self Assessment Form.

You need a hiking permit, issued after you complete the Hiker Self Assessment Form. Some sections of the northern route are undefined, so you should be proficient with a map and compass. You may stay up to two consecutive nights, with no more than six people in a group. This suits confident, self-sufficient walkers, not a casual overnight stop.
