Getting There & Logistics

Reach the falls via the 2.8 km Lake O’Hara Shoreline Loop with a short spur to the base—well‑maintained and nearly flat. There’s no dedicated trailhead or parking at the falls; all access to Lake O’Hara is tightly controlled. You’ll need a shuttle reservation or be ready to hike the 11 km access road to the lake area.

Facilities (or lack thereof)

There are no facilities at the falls—no restrooms, tables, or food. The nearest options are around the Lake O’Hara campground and the Le Relais day shelter on the north shore (basic services only, and water should be treated).

Best Time to Visit

Late spring through fall is prime, with the strongest flow in late spring/early summer or after rain. Arrive early for softer light, calmer reflections, and the quietest loop lap. Weather flips quickly here, so pack layers.

Wildlife

The broader Lake O’Hara basin often hosts birds like Clark’s nutcrackers and waterfowl, plus occasional marmots and pikas along the trails—and sometimes mountain goats higher up. Enjoy the sightings, keep distance, and give animals the right of way.
