Church Bowl Picnic Area is a roadside picnic stop across Ahwahnee Drive from Ahwahnee Meadow in Yosemite Valley. Its tables sit among incense cedars and ponderosa pines, with Half Dome and Glacier Point rising across the meadow. It’s a good place to slow down for lunch or a breather between Valley stops.
This is a bring-your-own picnic stop, with scattered tables, grills, drinking water and flush restrooms. The picnic area sits in the trees, while the open meadow view is across the road.
The Valley Loop Trail runs alongside the picnic area. Its unpaved route reaches toward Mirror Lake to the east and Lower Yosemite Fall to the west; a nearby paved path connects toward The Ahwahnee and Yosemite Village. Parking is limited and shared with trail and climbing users, so arrive early if you’re counting on a spot.
