Village Store is Yosemite Valley's main grocery and general-supply shop, right in the middle of Yosemite Village. Pick up groceries, grab-and-go food, ice, camping supplies, clothing or a gift between outings; this is a useful errand stop, not another landscape viewpoint. The store is open year-round.
The adjacent Village Grill is a separate counter-service stop with burgers, grilled sandwiches, hot dogs and vegetarian options, served beside an outdoor deck. It operates seasonally, so count it as a bonus when it is open rather than your only meal plan.
The current complex opened in 1959 as the Village Store, Fountain and Restaurant. Its triangular south face, with floor-to-ceiling windows, began as the restaurant dining room; it later became a sport shop, and the plaza now leads to the Welcome Center. The earlier store in Old Village served visitors for 88 years and about 23 million visits before the building was demolished.
The store is wheelchair accessible, with designated accessible spaces outside its east entrance. Parking beside the store is marked for 30 minutes, so it works best for a quick pickup. Visitors report that parking and checkout can bog down at busy times; leave a little slack.
