Yosemite Creek is a 74-site campground in conifer forest at 7,700 feet, nearly five miles off Tioga Road. Many campsites are close to the creek, and visitors often value the quiet setting. Choose it for a simple, remote-feeling night in the forest; the rough access and lack of services are part of the deal.
The turnoff is 21 miles west of Tioga Pass. The final five miles are narrow, winding, rough and unpaved; RVs and trailers are not recommended. The campground usually opens from early July into early September, depending on Tioga Road's opening and seasonal work. Reservations are required while it is open.
There is no potable water or nearby visitor service. Yosemite Creek is the only water source, so treat it by filtering, boiling or iodine before drinking. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table and food locker; seasonal vault toilets serve the campground. Store food in the lockers to protect bears. Sites allow up to six people and two motor vehicles, which must fit on the parking pad. Sites 5 and 43 have wheelchair-suitable tables and accessible nearby restrooms, and are reserved for visitors with disabilities.
