White Wolf is a forested campground off Tioga Road, around 8,000 feet above sea level. It’s a good choice for a wooded overnight near the Lukens and Harden Lakes trailheads; choose it for the setting and hiking access, not for services. It sits about a mile from Tioga Road between Tuolumne Meadows and Crane Flat, roughly an hour from Yosemite Valley.
The campground has 68 sites, including five tent-only sites. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table and food locker; sites allow up to six people and two vehicles, which must fit on the parking pad. Sizes vary, so check the individual site details before bringing a long RV or trailer. There’s also a seasonal amphitheater.
Bring drinking water: no potable water is provided. Seasonal toilets are available, but confirm the current setup before you go. There are no showers, cell coverage, internet, camp store, firewood or ice sales, electrical hookups, or dump station. Reservations are required, and the operating season follows Tioga Road access and facility work. Cold nights and bugs come up repeatedly, so pack warm layers and insect repellent. White Wolf Lodge may have minimal services when open; don’t count on it.
White Wolf grew with Tioga Road. By 1930, the area had a small resort with tents, cabins, a store, a restaurant and a gas station. After the highway was relocated and resort travel declined following World War II, the campground was improved in 1960–61.
