White Wolf Lodge is a seasonal lodging area on Tioga Road, about 30 miles from Yosemite Valley. Its 28 cabins sit in a meadow among the pines. It makes sense if you want to sleep in the high country near a couple of lake hikes; the tradeoff is a short operating season and a long drive from the Valley.
There are 24 canvas tent cabins and four wood cabins. The tent cabins sleep up to four, with beds, linens, towels and a wood stove, but no electricity; guests share restrooms and showers when those facilities are operating. The wood cabins have two double beds, electricity, propane heat and a private bathroom. There’s no Wi-Fi or cell service, so plan to be offline.
Cooking isn’t allowed in tent cabins or elsewhere in the lodge area. Tent-cabin guests use the bear-proof food lockers; wood-cabin guests can store food in their cabin. Pets aren’t allowed, apart from service animals.
The nearby trailheads lead to Lukens and Harden Lakes. They’re close to the lodge, but the hikes start at their own trailheads rather than at the cabin grounds. The lodge is usually open from mid-July to early September, conditions permitting, so check seasonal access and lodging availability before building a trip around it.
