Saletalm is a mountain restaurant and alpine pasture on the south shore of Königssee, a few minutes on foot from the Salet boat landing. It sits on the walking route to Obersee, so it works best as a break on a lake outing. The shaded beer garden and surrounding rock faces are the draw; it is a handy meal stop, though the setting is more memorable than the home-style menu.

Salet is normally reached by the electric passenger boats from Königssee Seelände, a ride of about 50 minutes each way. Service is seasonal, generally from late April to mid-October. The restaurant is a short walk from the landing, and Obersee is about 15 minutes farther along the path. There is no shoreline path from St. Bartholomä; reaching Salet over the mountains means a demanding tour lasting several hours. Plan the outing around the return boat.

The waiting room at the Salet landing has standard and accessible toilets; there are no toilets on the boats. Wheelchair access at the restaurant is limited.

The kitchen serves home-style regional food, with self-service to handle the busy lake route. There is a 90-seat main room, a 24-seat Jägerstüberl, and a shaded beer garden with room for up to 200. Specific menu items can change, so come for a practical meal in an unusual setting rather than a particular dish.

Saletalm is more than a restaurant: a traditional double Kaser beside it is still shared by the Mooslehen and Rennerlehen farming families. On the path between Königssee and Obersee, the large boulders are remnants of a rockfall in 1172.
