Martin's Lookout

Overview

Martin's Lookout is a cliff-edge rock platform near Springwood with a memorial plaque and cross, looking straight across the Glenbrook Creek valley to Lost World Lookout. It’s a classic lower Blue Mountains viewpoint that delivers the drama without the drive time or crowds of the upper mountains.

What you’ll see

Expect sweeping valley views over Glenbrook Creek, rugged sandstone escarpments, and dense bushland. The lookout itself is an open, unfenced slab of rock—great for soaking in the panorama and framing photos toward the opposite ridge and Lost World Lookout.

The walk

From the small car park, it’s roughly 200–210 meters to the lookout—short but classed as moderate thanks to some rocky, steep sections. Sturdy shoes help. If you’ve got more time, this spot also serves as a gateway to longer outings toward Perch Ponds, Bunyan Lookout, and Lost World Lookout.

Best time to visit

Sunrise and sunset are the sweet spots for warm light across the valley and moody mist on cooler mornings. It’s often peaceful outside peak times; weekdays tend to be quieter. The site is open all hours, so you can easily time a quick detour for golden hour.

Know before you go

There are no facilities at the lookout—no toilets, no water, no picnic tables—so bring what you need. The rock platform feels exposed in bad weather; keep back from the edge and supervise kids closely. Free parking is at the end of the access road, a very short stroll from the viewpoint.
