Guide
Lost World Lookout is a rocky viewpoint above Glenbrook Creek in the lower Blue Mountains, opposite Martin’s Lookout on the far rim. It is known for its broad forested-gorge view and the white memorial cross at the cliff edge. Go if a strenuous bushwalk sounds like part of the day; this is not a roadside pull-in.
The commonly described walk from Martin’s Lookout drops to Glenbrook Creek, crosses it, then climbs steeply to the lookout. It is a demanding down-and-up trip, and walkers report that the route can be indistinct in places. Routes differ, so published distances do not agree; allow several hours, bring water and save a reliable navigation track. Check current park alerts and creek conditions before setting out.
From the rocky rim, look across forested ridges and Glenbrook Gorge; on a clear day, the Sydney skyline may be visible in the distance. The white cross commemorates Reverend Brother G.E. Raymer, remembered as a local bushwalker who led parties through these valleys. For a photo, keep the cross in frame with the gorge behind it so the landscape gives it scale.
