Rileys Mountain Lookout is a cliff-edge viewpoint reached by continuing beyond the separate Rock Lookout on Fairlight Road. It looks over the Nepean River toward the Blue Mountains. Allow about 5 km return from the road-end parking area; this is a bushwalk, not a roadside stop. The Rock Lookout is closer to the car park, while Rileys is the higher, farther reward if you have time for the extra walk.
The route follows a fire trail through eucalyptus forest and swampy heath. People differ on how hilly it feels, so the distance is the clearest measure of the commitment. Parking and a picnic area are listed at the Rock Lookout trailhead, but there is no food or potable water verified along the walk; bring what you need for the return.
The viewpoint opens across the Nepean River valley, with forested slopes and the Blue Mountains beyond. The cliff edge has no railing, so keep well back, especially with children. For a photo, include the river and the wooded gorge to show the depth of the view rather than filling the frame with the far ridgeline alone.
