Walls Lookout is a viewpoint on a short track near Pierces Pass picnic area, above the Grose Valley in Blue Mountains National Park. It’s a worthwhile stop if you want a broad cliff-and-forest view without taking on a longer hike. The walk length depends on which nearby parking start you use; the track is rocky and uneven in places, so this isn’t a flat pull-off.
From the lookout, Mount Banks and Mount Hay are the landmarks to pick out across the valley; the cliff line and deep forest do most of the work. Hanging Rock appears in the view as well. The lookout is open and exposed, with a drop below, so stay back from the edge.
For a photo, include the sandstone shelf in the foreground and keep the far escarpment in frame; the foreground rock gives the valley some scale. The cliffs catch warm low-angle light, and the panorama loses much of its impact when cloud closes over the ridges.
