Pierces Pass and the Rigby Hill Walk“You're nearing Pierces Pass picnic area, where I'd choose the Rigby Hill walk for a valley view without a long descent. It's one point two kilometres return, about an hour, with a gentle climb, steps and uneven rock.”

Trail guide
Rigby Hill is an easy out-and-back to a rocky lookout above the Grose Valley. The return is 1.2 km (0.75 mi) from Pierces Pass picnic area and takes about an hour with time at the view. The track climbs gently along the ridge, with short stepped sections and uneven rock. It is a good choice for a big valley panorama without a long hike.
From the picnic area, follow the narrow path south along the ridgeline. Bush frames the early stretch; the view begins opening about halfway, then a short flight of steps leads to the hilltop. Turn around there and retrace the same track. The separate Pierces Pass track continues down toward Blue Gum Forest and is a much longer, challenging walk.
The unfenced summit looks across the Grose Wilderness to the Grose River and Perrys Lookdown. Hanging Rock is a clear landmark across the valley; Mount Banks and Anvil Rock may be visible on a clear day. For a phone photo, keep the river and far escarpment in frame with a little of the rocky lookout in the foreground to show the scale. Stay well back from the edge, especially when taking pictures, and keep children close.
