Hiking Braeside walking track

Braeside walking track is a 2.5 km return out-and-back from the signed Braeside Road access to Barrow Lookout, following Govetts Leap Brook. Allow about 1 hour 15 minutes. It is a short walk, but it is described as Grade 4, with steep, rough and rocky sections; expect a bush track rather than a flat stroll. You return the way you came, climbing back toward the access.

Start at the Braeside Walk sign beside the small picnic area. A short stepping-stone crossing leads onto the creekside path. It follows the brook through bushland, with a small cascade beside the track near the start. Keep to the Braeside route at the junction; following Cliff Top turns this into a longer walk.
At Barrow LookoutAt the upper end, Barrow Lookout opens onto the Grose Valley, with a view back toward Bridal…
At the upper end, Barrow Lookout opens onto the Grose Valley, with a view back toward Bridal Veil Falls. The lookout also overlooks a hanging swamp; that wetland feeds Fletcher’s drumsticks, a rare plant found only around the Blackheath area. Keep well back from cliff edges and waterfall drops when taking in the view. Pets are not permitted in the park, except certified assistance animals.
