Guide
Iluka Beach is a sandy Jervis Bay beach between Captains Beach and Green Patch, with pale sand, clear blue-green shallows and coastal bush behind it. It’s a distinct stop from Green Patch, even though the two sit side by side. I’d make time for it if you’re drawn to clear water and a wooded shoreline; the beach itself is the main attraction.
Iluka is associated with a day-use area and beach staircase, with parking and picnic facilities behind the shore. Booderee’s beaches aren’t supervised by lifeguards, so there’s no patrol watching the water.
Visitors repeatedly point to the clear, bright water and pale sand. From the water’s edge, a low view puts the transparent shallows in front of the sand and bush line, which gives the beach its strongest composition.
Visitors have reported wallabies or kangaroos near the beach and dolphins offshore. Those are occasional sightings, not something to count on during a visit.
