Boston Mill Station

Boston Mill Station is a small flag stop on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, at Boston Mills and Riverview Roads near the village of Boston. It is most useful as a way to connect a train ride with Boston Mill Visitor Center, the village, or nearby trails. The railroad’s one-way shuttle can also help hikers, cyclists, runners, and paddlers make a route that ends somewhere different. This is a boarding stop, not an attraction to plan a long visit around.

Boston Mill is a flag stop, so get to the platform about 10 minutes before departure and wave both arms overhead when you need the train to stop. Schedules vary by season, so check the railroad’s current trip details before setting your day around it.

The Valley Railway began service in 1880, carrying coal from the Tuscarawas River Valley to Cleveland, Akron, and Canton while also bringing passengers out of those industrial cities for countryside trips. As cars, trucks, and buses took over, rail traffic declined; interest in the route as a scenic excursion returned in 1972. Boston Mill’s name can be confusing: the original depot building was moved to Peninsula in 1968 and became Peninsula Depot. The station here is the present-day Boston Mill stop.
