Guide
Boston Store is a historic general store on the east side of the Cuyahoga River, right beside the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. It works best as a break during a walk or bike ride: pick up something to eat, browse park gifts, then carry on along the river.
The shop offers picnic-ready sandwiches and salads, cookies and ice cream, along with park merchandise. Ice cream is the clearest reason to treat yourself here; this is a handy food stop, not a sit-down restaurant.
Built in the mid-1830s, Boston Store served as the Boston Land and Manufacturing Company Store during the canal era. Its second floor had 13 rooms intended to board area workers. The village grew after the Ohio & Erie Canal reached Boston in 1827; as railroads took over freight in the 1880s, canal commerce faded. The building later served as a post office, private home and park visitor center. Today's Boston Mill Visitor Center is a separate building across the river.
