Trail guide
The White Oak Trail Loop is the current 1.4-mile route through Brecksville Reservation. It leaves the ridge and dips through mature oak-hickory woods and ravines. The hillsides add some up and down, so allow about an hour rather than treating it like a flat towpath walk. The current loop restored and expanded an older White Oak route that used to run one way to Oak Grove.
The park map lists 1.4 miles; the joined mapped trail line measures about 1.1. Exact walking mileage is not independently settled, so plan around 1.4 miles and follow the current loop alignment rather than older out-and-back directions.
This is a natural-surface walk with stone surfacing added to help drainage. The main change is from the flatter ridge into the wooded ravines; it feels more varied than a short ridge stroll. The trail complex also links to the Plateau and Oak Grove picnic areas, so use the named White Oak loop instead of treating every nearby connector as part of the route.
My Mountain Trail branches off White Oak and runs 0.3 mile one way to a view over Chippewa Creek Valley. It is a separate trail, not part of the 1.4-mile loop; going out and back adds about 0.6 mile. The My Mountain path has seven wooden crossing structures and 300 feet of boardwalk. From the overlook, leave some of the wooded valley in the frame so the view reads as a gorge, not just a drop.
