Trail guide
Wildflower Loop Trail is an easy, 0.75-mile circuit by Brecksville Nature Center in Brecksville Reservation. Allow about 20 to 30 minutes, including the short approach from the parking area. It is a quick walk for a look at the woods, Wallin Creek and the reservation’s spring flowers.
The walk begins on pavement near the center, then moves onto dirt under the trees. It dips to a small wooden crossing over Wallin Creek and climbs back by short stair sections. The loop stays close to the Nature Center, with a few changes in surface and elevation across a compact route. The park’s listed distance is approximate; the actual walk can vary with the parking approach and how the route is measured.
Spring is the loop’s signature season. Trillium, twinleaf and trout lily are among the flowers to look for along the trail and by the Nature Center gardens. Stay on the path when stopping for a closer look.
Wallin Creek was named in honor of Harold Wallin in 2014. The creek crossing is the walk’s quiet, close-up feature.
The Brecksville Nature Center opened in 1939 as a Works Progress Administration trailside museum. It gives the loop a recognizable start and adds a bit of local history to a short walk.
Use the Brecksville Nature Center parking area; the reservation map marks parking and restrooms beside the center. Dogs and cats are allowed on Cleveland Metroparks trails on leashes no longer than eight feet, and owners must clean up after them.
