Overview
A quiet, tropical sweep of sand where the Daintree’s littoral rainforest meets the Coral Sea. Expect soft sand, blue water views, and that classic "Cow Bay Swing" for photos. At low tide you can wander the northern end to discover three more secluded bays and a scatter of colorful rocks.

Wildlife

Getting There
It’s a little over an hour from Port Douglas and about 30 minutes from Cape Tribulation. You’ll cross the Daintree River by cable ferry, then turn off Cape Tribulation Road onto Buchanan Creek Road and follow it roughly 6 km to the beach.
Safety & Beach Etiquette
Most visitors enjoy Cow Bay for walking and views rather than swimming. Stingers are common in the warm months and crocodiles inhabit local waterways—obey all signs. Check tides if you plan to fish or explore the rock areas.
Best Time to Visit
Dry season (May–September) brings milder, less humid weather and easier beach days. Wet season (December–April) is hotter, rainier, and lusher. For crowds and photography, aim for early morning or sunset any day of the week.
