Daintree Siesta

This family-run property combines a small campground, accommodation rooms and a licensed open-air restaurant in Diwan, on Cape Tribulation Road. It works well as an overnight base if you want to eat and take a short rainforest walk without driving elsewhere. The campground follows a loop through the trees, and visitors often describe the sites as roomy and quiet.

There are powered and unpowered sites, some with slabs, for tents, campervans, motorhomes and caravans. Air-conditioned rooms sleep two to five and have private ensuites. Campers also get hot showers, toilets, a sheltered camp kitchen, BBQ area, laundry and a small splash pool. Water is listed at sites, but drinking-water status is not clear, so check before relying on it. An accessible motel room is listed; ask about campground access separately.

The licensed outdoor restaurant welcomes non-guests as well as campers. It serves familiar, hearty meals with tropical touches; pan-fried barramundi and chips is a long-standing favorite. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are advertised. Service days and times can change with the season, so confirm the schedule or book before making a special meal stop.

The paths through the grounds are private for guests, not public walks. A two-hour guided Rainforest Connections forest-therapy walk is also offered. Cassowaries, flying foxes and tree kangaroos have been reported around the property, but sightings are a bonus rather than something to expect on cue. Pets may be accepted in the campground by arrangement; dogs cannot use the private tracks or many nearby activities.

The current family bought the property in late 2021 and relaunched it as Daintree Siesta in January 2023; it had previously been called Lync Haven. The operators say bookings help fund rainforest revegetation at the property and local planting work.
