Trail guide
Jindalba Boardwalk Loop is a 650 m circuit (about 0.4 mi) through dense lowland rainforest, following a raised wooden boardwalk past several creeks. Queensland Parks rates it Grade 2 and allows about 45 minutes, which makes sense if you stop and look around. It’s a gentle nature walk, not the separate 3 km Jindalba Circuit Track.
King ferns are worth looking for along the way. The park also suggests watching the canopy for Bennett’s tree-kangaroos and listening for buff-breasted paradise-kingfishers; musky rat-kangaroos may be on the forest floor. Those are possibilities, not guaranteed sightings. The nearby long circuit is a tougher, longer walk with uneven ground, so don’t mix its conditions up with this boardwalk.
Start at Jindalba car park at the end of Tulip Oak Road, about 1 km from Cape Tribulation Road. Flush toilets and picnic tables are at the adjacent day-use area. Queensland lists wheelchair access, though assistance may be needed; creek access for wheelchair users is at the boardwalk’s exit end. Some steps can be a barrier. Ordinary pets aren’t allowed in Queensland national parks; certified support dogs are permitted, and other assistance animals may be approved with documentation.
