Best time to visit
The underground experiences are dependable in wet weather, which makes Llechwedd a useful rainy-day plan in Eryri. Choose an early weekday session if you want more breathing room. On bright days, allow a little time outside for the quarry buildings, rail equipment, and slate landscape; the clearest light is best for surface photography, while the underground scenes are intentionally dark and lit for atmosphere.
The main tradeoff is cost and commitment. A single experience can make a memorable stop, but combining several activities quickly becomes an expensive day, and scheduled sessions limit spontaneity. If the weather is good and you only want open mountain scenery, there are better-value places nearby. If you are curious about industrial history or travelling with people who want different levels of excitement, few places in the park pack so much variety into one old mine.
