Baring Falls is a waterfall on Baring Creek in Glacier's St. Mary area, a short side trip from Going-to-the-Sun Road. It makes a satisfying stop when you want a real cascade without committing to a long hike. The direct route from Sunrift Gorge Pullout is 0.3 mile each way and drops 250 feet on the way out, so the walk back is uphill. Parking at the pullout can be tight when the road is busy.
Cross the bridge for the first viewFollow the Siyeh Pass Trail south from Sunrift Gorge Pullout.
Follow the Siyeh Pass Trail south from Sunrift Gorge Pullout. At the junction, take the branch toward the falls; the other route continues toward Sun Point. A footbridge crosses Baring Creek just before the first view. Pause just beyond it for a photo with the creek below the cascade. The Sun Point approach is longer and gives you a way to link the falls with more lake and waterfall scenery.

The falls and creek are said to take their name from one of the Baring brothers, London bankers who visited the area on a late-1880s hunting trip guided by Joe Kipp and James Willard Schultz. It is a small but unusual link between this waterfall and Glacier's early travel history.
