The Chapel of the Transfiguration is a small Episcopal log chapel beside the Menors Ferry Historic District, near Moose. It was built in 1925 for people connected with the nearby dude ranches, and its big altar window frames the Grand Teton. This is a short, distinctive stop if you're already in the area; the view through that window is the reason to step inside.
From inside, the altar and cross sit in front of the mountain framed by the window. Take a moment to look past the building itself: this is one of the park's classic views, and the chapel makes a natural frame for the Teton. For a photo, include the cross or altar along the bottom of the window and keep the mountain in the center.
Maud Noble donated the land to St. John's Episcopal Church in 1925, and the first services were held on July 26 that year. The chapel served employees and guests from the nearby dude ranches. Its log walls and simple scale fit that early community; it seats about 65, with extra outdoor seating when weather allows.
The chapel remains active, with services held seasonally. Treat it as a church as well as a historic visitor stop, and give people space if a service is underway. It is listed as wheelchair-accessible.
