Trail guide
This 4 km (2.5 mi) loop starts on Distillery Creek Road, climbs to Ted’s Ridge, then descends through Snakey Gully and returns beside the road. Allow about 1.5 hours. It is graded easy to moderate, with two uphill sections and a short road-side walking track at the end.
Begin on the right-hand side of Distillery Creek Road just beyond private property. A broad firebreak climbs through open heath to the ridge. Turn left along Ted’s Ridge for coastal views and a small plaque explaining the track’s name, then turn left onto Snakey Gully for the descent. After about 640 m, a right-hand branch visits a forest rest area on land described as a former private settlement; return to Snakey Gully, continue down to the road, then turn left on the walking track beside it to the start.
The mapped line follows the main connected paths and road-side return, but the side track into the former settlement has no verified mapped geometry. The saved line measures about 3.42 km while the full walk is published as 4 km; follow the written directions for the rest-area branch and do not use the line alone to estimate the complete walk.
From the Great Ocean Road, take Bambra Road to Distillery Creek Road and park along the road. Dogs and cats are not permitted in Great Otway National Park.
