Trail guide
Ocean Walk/Cherry Tree Creek Walk is a 2.4 km one-way route from St George River to Allenvale Road (Greenbreak Track Junction). It climbs the eastern side of the valley and takes about one hour at the moderate pace listed for the walk. Arrange a vehicle shuttle at Allenvale Road or retrace the same path; walking back makes about 4.8 km in all, and the published hour covers one way.
Start on the open, grassy flats beside the St George River and head uphill through the wooded valley. The track crosses a bridge over Cherry Tree Creek, then climbs more steeply, with views back across the river and flats. At about 1.5 km it divides. Both branches reach Allenvale Road; the right-hand fork is the less strenuous choice and curves around the hill before emerging a few minutes south of Qdos Gallery.
Tall eucalypts and tree ferns fill this valley. Look for the local plants noted along the walk: Prickly Currant-bush, Musk Daisy-bush, Golden-tip and native pittosporum, also called Banyalla. The area is known for bird calls, including Eastern Yellow Robin, Crimson Rosella and Grey Shrikethrush; sightings are not guaranteed. A separately described 5.5 km circuit at St George River adds Allenvale Mill and a riverside return, so its mileage and low-water crossing advice do not apply to this one-way route.
